Kiyona Energy Showcases Innovative Renewable Energy Projects to the Media

Kiyona Energy Limited today welcomed representatives from various media houses on a tour of some of its flagship renewable energy projects across Lusaka, led by Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Clement Siame. The tour provided journalists with a firsthand appreciation of the company’s growing contribution to Zambia’s clean energy transition and its commitment to delivering innovative renewable energy solutions that strengthen the national electricity grid.
The media tour highlighted a number of Kiyona Energy’s landmark projects, beginning with the 0.35MW rooftop solar power system at Matero Level 1 Hospital. The project reflects the company’s vision of providing competitive clean energy solutions through innovation, while protecting the environment.
Speaking at the hospital, Eng. Siame said the project demonstrates how renewable energy can directly improve essential public services.
“This project speaks to the heart of healthcare, where reliable energy is not a luxury but a necessity. By delivering dependable clean energy to health facilities, we are helping ensure uninterrupted healthcare services while contributing to a more sustainable future” he said.
The delegation also toured the 0.875MW Parliament Rooftop and Car Park Solar Power Plant, which is helping reduce the institution’s dependence on conventional electricity through clean solar generation.
The tour continued to the 40MW Njolwe Solar Power Plant and NRDC 22MW Solar Power Plant, two of Kiyona Energy’s partnered utility-scale developments designed to significantly boost renewable energy generation for the national grid.
The final stop was the 10MW Chongwe Wayleave Solar Power Plant, an innovative project that demonstrates Kiyona Energy’s ability to maximise underutilised land by developing solar infrastructure along power transmission wayleaves. The project showcases the company’s commitment to finding practical and environmentally responsible solutions that expand renewable energy generation without competing with other land uses.
Throughout the tour, Eng. Siame reaffirmed Kiyona Energy’s determination to deliver high-quality, environmentally sustainable energy projects within record time.
He noted that every project undertaken by the company reflects its ambition to accelerate Zambia’s renewable energy transformation while supporting the country’s growing demand for reliable electricity.
Eng. Siame added that Kiyona Energy remains proud to contribute to the ambitious expansion of solar power being spearheaded by its parent company, ZESCO Limited, as the country continues to diversify its energy mix and strengthen national energy security.
